1. Explain the legal and specified requirements pertaining to conducting,
reporting and acting on the outcome of a pre-use, safety and/or audit inspection
The learner will have clear direction in the correct understanding and
interpretation of the relevant standards for inspections. Relevant hazards and risks
likely to be encountered during these inspections are explained. The importance of
initiating immediate remedial actions where necessary are explained. The purpose
of pre-use, safety and/or audit inspections are described.

2. Prepare for the inspections
The learner will have clear direction in the correct understanding and practical
knowledge of the persons, tools and the materials required for the inspections
according to purpose and made available for use.  Relevant hazards and risk
control measures for inspections are explained. 

3. Conduct pre-use, safety and audit inspections
Provide clear direction in the correct understanding and interpretation as to how
an inspection is conducted according to specified requirements for the intended
type of inspection.  The learner will have the necessary clear direction and practical
knowledge to be able to identify all potential life threatening hazards and risks in
the workplace, and the measures required to eliminate, control at source or
minimise the risks to health or safety in the workplace. Provide guidelines as to the
correct type and use of personal protective equipment in the workplace, tools and
equipment as required . Provide necessary knowledge to ensure teamwork and
avoid conflict in the workplace.

4. Initiate immediate remedial action where necessary
Provides the learner with the understanding and practical knowledge to deal with
hazards and risks as soon as is reasonably practical. The learner will have the
knowledge on withdrawing workers, tools and equipment under circumstances
posing a serious danger to health and safety in the workplace.

5. Report on and follow up on inspection reports
Provides the learner with the understanding and practical knowledge to report on
significant hazards and risks identified, as well as the remedial measures initiated.
Follow up actions to be carried out, evaluated, recorded and reported.
